KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 28, 2021 – Summer travel is about to be as smooth as the best Kansas City jazz, thanks to new nonstop options from Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE). The carrier is adding flights to cities stretching from South Florida to the state’s panhandle, each of which comes with Spirit’s famous low fares, Signature Service and on-time performance ranking among the top U.S. airlines.

Spirit’s bright yellow planes will start flying from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Pensacola (PNS) and Tampa (TPA) between now and early June. The new destinations nearly double the airline’s list of cities served from MCI, complimenting expanded service with more flights to Orlando (MCO), Las Vegas (LAS) and Myrtle Beach (MYR) each week.

“Our Kansas City Guests told us they’re ready to get out and travel as vaccination efforts continue, and we’re responding with an unbeatable list of options stretching from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale,” said John Kirby, Spirit Airlines Vice President of Network Planning. “Kansas City knows Spirit treats its Guests like family, gets them there on time and leaves them with more money to spend on all the fun stuff once they arrive.”

Kansas City is one of the latest examples of growth across Spirit’s network and is among the first of Spirit’s existing markets to gain nonstop flights to Pensacola as part of the airline’s new service to Florida’s panhandle. Spirit continues to seize growth opportunities as demand for air travel increases. In February the carrier announced an accelerated delivery schedule for new Airbus aircraft joining Spirit’s Fit Fleet™, which is among the youngest in the industry.

“We are pleased that Spirit is growing their presence at Kansas City International Airport through new routes and additional frequencies,” said Pat Klein, Director of Kansas City’s Aviation Department. “Kansas City travelers will have even more choices to fly nonstop to sunny beaches and large cities, whether flying for business or pleasure.”

Fort Lauderdale is Spirit’s largest gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, which means nonstop flights from MCI come with easy connections to countries and territories throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The airline’s operations in Las Vegas and Orlando offer additional connections across the country and one-stop access to friends and relatives coast to coast.

2021 is off to a great start at Spirit Airlines. In January, the carrier launched its new Free Spirit® loyalty program, which is the fastest way to earn rewards and status.* Spirit is also one of only three U.S. airlines listed on FORTUNE's 2021 list of World's Most Admired® Companies, which measures companies with the strongest reputation within their industries. Spirit also earned “Platinum” status by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Health Safety initiative powered by SimpliFlying.

Guest Safety

Spirit’s commitment to Safe Travels includes a multi-layered safety approach that requires all Guests and Team Members to wear face coverings. Each Guest agrees to that policy as part of a health and safety acknowledgement prior to boarding the aircraft. Every plane in our Fit Fleet® uses state-of-the-art, high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that capture 99.97% of particles and filter the air for contaminants every 3 minutes.

Between each flight, enhanced cleaning procedures focus on high-touch areas such as tray tables and armrests. Spirit also uses two EPA-registered fogging treatments. The first applies a safe, high-grade disinfectant that’s effective against coronaviruses. The second uses an antimicrobial product that forms an invisible barrier on all surfaces that kills bacteria and viruses on contact for 30 days. Please visit Spirit’s COVID-19 Information Center for more information on safety enhancements.
