MIRAMAR, Fla., Nov. 28, 2023 – Spirit Airlines’ (NYSE: SAVE) philanthropic efforts are good as “Gold.” Travel Weekly named Spirit Airlines a Gold Winner in the 2023 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards in the Airlines and Airports category for “Giving Back Initiative.” The airline’s work through the Spirit Charitable Foundation was recognized for its excellence in creating a meaningful social impact on the lives of Children and Families, Service Members and the Environment through Team Member volunteerism, monetary and in-kind donations.
The Foundation’s efforts have steadily increased year over year since its launch in 2019. The number of organizations the Foundation serves grew from 21 in 2019 to 84 in 2023. Monetary contributions have grown each year as well. The Foundation donated $1.7 million in 2023, increasing its year-over-year financial impact by 67% from 2022 to 2023, and 103% from 2021 to 2022.

The recognition by Travel Weekly follows the Foundation’s recent induction in Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Fellow Society, a prestigious honor for donors who have contributed more than $50,000 to the South Florida-based university. The Foundation invests in the Museum on the Move program at NSU’s Art Museum, which makes the arts accessible to all, regardless of income.
